Inspired by clouds and patterns found in nature, the NEFOS Table fuses hundreds of steel discs to produce exuberant three-legged vaulted forms. Artist Jason Kelly Johnson mixes creativity and innovative technical solutions to produce one of a kind art and furniture that evokes dynamism and lightness.
Fabricated in the artist’s Northern California workshop, the NEFOS limited edition tables combine cutting edge digital craft with traditional metal working. The Artist’s idiosyncratic design and fabrication process ensures that each table is a unique work of art.
The name NEFOS comes from the Greek word for cloud nephos (νεφος). It is used to denote formless collections of particles, dense multitudes of vapor, or plumes. Related words include the Latin nebula; Slavic (nebo, “heaven”); Sanskrit (nábhas, “sky”)

The NEFOS table is created with hundreds of custom laser cut stainless steel discs. The discs are hand packed and TIG welded over a custom three-dimensional wooden jig. The result is an incredibly strong and sturdy three-legged table base.
Each table includes a piece of tempered glass that is custom cut and hand polished with a “soft to the touch” rounded pencil edge.
